Where getting away means getting together
Greetings,
Yellow, orange, red, green and brown are all around, but orange and red stand out to me because they represent the upcoming holidays.

People select their favorite holiday for many different reasons. My mom's favorite is Halloween because you can be anything you want that day. Thanksgiving is a favorite for some because it is centered around thankfulness and family. Christmas is #1 for others because of the presents. There are also those who love New Year's because they enjoy the clean slate and new beginning that the coming year brings.

Holidays are whatever you make them. Below you'll find some events and ideas to make this year memorable.

Happy Travels!

Halloween Recipe
When you pick out those pumpkins that are perfect for carving, and you cut a whole in the top and scoop out the seeds, don't toss them in the trash can this year. Here is an easy recipe to turn them into a festive treat.

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds
Seeds from 2 medium pumpkins
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Remove the seeds from the pumpkins. Discard the pulp. Spread the seeds (no need to rinse them) evenly on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until dried, about 1 hour. Toss the seeds, olive oil, celery salt and cumin in a large skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, over medium heat, until the seeds are lightly toasted, about three minutes. Makes 8 servings.
