July2005 Heidel House News
Greetings,
Do you know what I love about Summer? Everything! I love the smells, the heat, the lake view and most of all - the food.

The smell of steaks on the grill takes me back to a time of simplicity and carefree living. It makes me remember being young and running around under the summer sun while the family barbecues out back. The sound of an acoustic guitar helps me remember the many festivals I attended each summer with my best pals. Sand between my toes and the distinct smell of the lake make me realize that I can relive my fondest memories each summer just by taking a much- needed break.

What about you? What are your favorite memories of Summers past? Write to me soon. I'd be interested to know if yours are similar to mine.

Happy travels,
Loni

Heidel House Melody

Do you enjoy live music? Another great staple of Summer life is live entertainment. Whether you're here enjoying our outdoor BBQ or have a group gathering, stop in at either BoatHouse or Grey Rock to listen to some upbeat sounds.

Every Saturday night, BoatHouse has a live band from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Saturdays, Grey Rock Lounge features the John Harmon Jazz Duo. During our outdoor New England Lobster Bakes, a folk guitarist sets the mood.

Whatever your listening pleasure we aim to please. And remember, we have some of the best piers on Green Lake and welcome boaters to swing by for the evening.

Escapade Tours

Perhaps you've experienced our sightseeing cruise around Green Lake on the Escapade. The beautiful views, gorgeous homes, historic landmarks and natural wonders are enough to keep you coming back each year. But this year, we've added a new way to take in the sights: A dinner cruise.

During this two-hour excursion a three-course meal will be served while our Captain enlightens you with information about Green Lake's history and current events. The next dinner cruise is on July 22 followed by one on August 5. For more information or for the full menu, call 800.444.2812 and speak with our Concierge.

New England Lobster Bake

Mmmm...fresh lobster...melted butter...steamed clams...what's better than that? At Grey Rock's New England Lobster Bake that's what you'll get - plus more. Pull up a chair to the freshest seafood west of Maine. Indulge in a whole live Maine lobster, barbecued shrimp, steamer clams with lemon butter, grilled sirloin steak and fresh strawberry shortcake, to name a few of the yummy buffet items.

Each Bake is set up outdoors on Grey Rock's lawn. Live music and a beautiful view set the mood. This year's Bakes will be held on July 15, July 29, August 12 and August 26 and the cost is $55 per person. For more information or to make your reservations, call 800.444.2812 and speak with our Grey Rock staff.

Green Lake Events

Hiking, biking and boating are all great ways to take in Green Lake, however, what if you want to do more than just sightsee? That's when you look up the Green Lake Calendar of Events and plan a great vacation including one of these fantastic happenings.

Coming up in the next couple of months are some annual favorites along with some new occurrences. The Green Lake County Fair is in town on August 3 through 7 and will feature Fred Scheer's Lumberjack Show on August 6. On August 13 and 14, the Fine Art Show hosts over 100 vendors in Deacon Mills Park and at the Mill Pond.

September is a boomin' month with events every weekend: State Chili Cook Off, Wooden Boat Show and of course, Golden Days Harvest Fest. To learn more about Green Lake Events, visit the Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce website or call 800.253.7354. Remember: Check our website for specials during these great events.
