Fun ways to combat cabin fever..
Right about now cabin fever starts its long haul. For
those of you who don't care to waste away watching
"Friends" reruns, I've come up with a few suggestions.
If
you have some better ones let me know and I'll include
them in next month's newsletter.
Catch up on your classics
Take a look at
American Film Institute's (www.afi.com) list of the
hundred greatest movies of all time and head
off to your local video store.
Make a Feast
If you know you're going to
be
trapped indoors, find some recipes that you've never
made before. Invite some friends and family over and
tell them to bring a side dish. What a wonderful way to
pass the day.
Cheap Wine Night
Invite your family and
friends
over for a cocktail night. Ask them to bring the
cheapest bottle of wine they can find. Then, spend
the night sampling wine to choose the best. The
person who brought that wine wins a prize.
Board Game Bonanza
Dust off that
Scrabble
box and find out if your college education was worth it.
If that doesn't pan out, just switch over to slang
Scrabble, where anything counts if you can use it in a
sentence. (This can be combined with Cheap Wine
Night for added fun.)
Redecorate
March is a good time to
rearrange
all your furniture and accessories to give your place a
fresh new perspective. For even more fun, switch the
entire place around when your family is away, and then
pretend like they are crazy when they think the place is
different.

| Mexican Hot Chocolate | | |  Here's a recipe that will warm you from the inside out...1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
dash salt
1 quart milk (4 cups), divided
1/4 cup half-and-half
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a small bowl, combine cocoa, sugar, cinnamon, and
salt. Heat 1 cup of milk in a saucepan until bubbling.
Stir in cocoa mixture and whisk until smooth. Bring to a
boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Stir in remaining
3 cups milk and return to boiling. Before stirring, whisk
until frothy; stir in cream and vanilla then heat through.
