Greetings,
Happy Holidays! What a busy month I have ahead of
me! With Holiday House on Dec. 8 and 15 (You'll see
me there if you come on the 8th), Christmas parties
with friends and coworkers, family gatherings and
New Year's Eve festivities, this is just the beginning of
a whirlwind of activity. My goal is to take this next week
and try to get everything planned out and organized so
I can enjoy the month instead of being overwhelmed
by it. Then, I'm going to reward myself by taking some
time to relax, curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and sit in
front of a hot fire. Care to join me in preparing to make
this a fun and memorable holiday?
Happy planning for your travels and the holidays,
Michelle

Gift Certificates
Do you have family and friends who are difficult to
shop
for? My dad falls in that category because he just
doesn't need anything. The one thing that has always
been a perfect fit is a gift certificate for dinner, an
overnight stay or a massage, so that he can take
some
time to relax.
The great thing about our gift certificates here at
Heidel House Resort is that they can be customized,
or a general certificate can be used at the resort,
Evensong Spa or at any of our restaurants. Even
better is that you can easily order them
online and have them delivered to your inbox
immediately, or we can drop them in the mail for you
as well.
Have some holiday fun and build your own gift
certificate for that special someone.
Order a gift certificate now!.

Time-Saving Holiday Tips

The month of December always seems to be a little
crazy because of the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
I have always found planning to be helpful in
decreasing the chaos and making the season a time
of enjoyment. Here are a few tips and things to
remember as you prepare for the holiday
season that will help you save time and decrease
stress:
1. Reason for the season - Remember that
the holidays should be about
spending time with the people who mean the most to
you. All the gifts, cooking, activities, etc. are great, but
memories are what last a lifetime.
2. Sending cards - Write a letter to insert into
your cards that revisits what has happened this year,
in place of writing long notes in
each card, often repeating the same
things. Instead, a short note will provide the personal
touch without taking much time.
3. Family gift - To cut down on the number of
gifts you have to find,
purchase a family gift instead of gifts for
individuals. This will significantly cut down on your
shopping time and the strain on your brain caused by
thinking to hard about what to get everyone.
4. Online shopping is a great way to avoid the
crowded stores and save time. Be sure to shop soon
though, so there is plenty of time for the gifts to
arrive.
5. Avoid peak times - If you do decide to face
the store crowds, try to go in
the mornings and evenings, avoiding the lunch and
weekend rush. Also, have a list and/or game plan so
you aren't aimlessly wandering from store to
store.
6. Family Dinner - If you are the host of a large
family dinner,
make a list of everything you'd like to serve, then call
those attending and ask them to select one dish to
bring.
Now you too can enjoy the dinner instead of slaving
away in
the kitchen all day.
7. Baking - One way to get an assortment of
holiday goodies without baking a dozen different
things is to have a cookie swap with 6-12 of your
coworkers or friends. Everyone bakes a dozen of one
treat per invitee, and then you get together and
exchange them. You go home with a dozen of each
kind of treat without all the fuss.

Fun and Bizarre Days in December
December 7- National Cotton Candy Day
A great reminder that there is only 6 more
months until summer arrives.
December 16- National Chocolate Covered
Anything Day Whether it's chocolate covered
cherries, strawberries, raisins, other fruits or nuts, this
is definitely a favorite day for me. Try a Chocolate
Fondue during your holiday celebration.
December 25 - National Pumpkin Pie Day
A great recipe for that left over pumpkin pie...
take a slice of pie and blend it with Vanilla Ice Cream
and a little milk for a delicious Pumpkin Pie Shake.
Yummy!
